Tours & Events

Crown Hill isn’t just a cemetery. It’s an Indiana landmark, an attraction people can appreciate all year round. The spring blooms are magical, the fall colors breathtaking, the winter landscape a wonder to behold.

For many years, the Crown Hill Heritage Foundation has provided tours, educational programs, and special events for thousands of students, families, and tourists who visit Crown Hill.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must cancel some events, including our Music of the Night Concerts in October, but we welcome you to join us for Public and Private Guided Tours from July through October!

Public Tours will begin with our new Indy Bicentennial walking tour on Saturday, July 10! Please check our Public Tour page for all the details and to purchase tickets!

Private Group Tours will also resume in July and please note that they must be arranged at least two weeks in advance.

Please visit our Self-Guided Tour page to download our new Tree Map/Tour, the Bicentennial Tour, and our Racing Legends Tour. You can also download our new Tour App! Also available are our Visitor’s Guide/Map and Exercise Maps.

The cemetery is open and we welcome your visit! The 38th St. gate is open from 8 am to 8 pm daily through September, and from 8 am to 6 pm from October through April 1. The 34th St. gate is open from 8 am to 5 pm daily.

  • Memorial Day

In the interest of the safety of our visitors and employees during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the public Memorial Day celebration in 2021. Memorial Day is a big day for Crown Hill — a celebration of patriotism, pride, and freedom. A Hoosier fixture for more than 150 years, it is the longest-running Memorial Day ceremony in Indiana. Because we can’t share this amazing event in person this year, we have produced a short patriotic video to celebrate and honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This video will transport viewers to the past and invite them to reflect on the present. It will be available to view here at 8:00 a.m. EDT on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, and the various Crown Hill social media outlets.

This year we will be releasing a video on his 188th birthday, August 20, featuring several participants sharing important aspects of his life. You can find the video here on August 20, as well as on our social media channels and through our electronic newsletter.
