The Monthly Crown Series

This newsletter begins a monthly series for 2022 called “The Crown Series.” During 2022, we will focus our newsletter topics on one of our most well-known natural features, The Crown. At its peak stands the memorial of the famous Hoosier Poet, James Whitcomb Riley.

Following Riley’s burial on the Crown in 1917, many others have followed, partially filling its eastern and southern slopes.

From this unique vantage point, visitors enjoy a stunning 360-degree view of the entire Indianapolis skyline, making it a superb location to view downtown or to watch the sunset, in addition to learning about some of Crown Hill’s fascinating residents. (You can easily locate the Crown by following the white line painted on the road from either cemetery entrance.)
