Lillian Thomas Fox

(1854-1917)

Remembered primarily as a journalist for both African American and white newspapers, Fox was once thrown off a train for refusing to give up her first-class seat.

She sued the Southern Railroad, but the outcome of the suit is not known. She was also active in numerous clubs and helped develop a camp for victims of TB after losing her mother and brother to the disease.
