We Welcome Two High School Interns!

Crown Hill Foundation has become a proud partner with Victory College Prep School on the southeast side of Indianapolis. The school offers juniors and seniors internships in the community to introduce them to various opportunities for work, careers, and within organizations. The students spend two days a month at their internship.

This year we’re hosting two juniors, Jackie Velez-Luna and Darwin Deleon. Jackie is an artist and wants a creative career. She is helping with the creation of educational materials, stylized drawings for website use, and design work for some of our landscape. Darwin wants to work with the environment. He and our Arboretum Director have become fast friends talking about tree care, memorial tree planning, and the pollinator garden project. Both students are also learning about tombstone care, inventorying the site, and historical documents.

Crown Hill’s Director of Historic Preservation, Jeannie Regan-Dinius, has expressed a desire to work with students to try to interest them to pursue a career or become a steward and volunteer in the important fields of history and preservation. These are often left out of today’s curriculums as schools are cutting programs to focus primarily on STEM courses.
