New Designation for Crown Hill Arboretum

In 2023, the Crown Hill Foundation planted a pollinator’s garden near the Waiting Station, Gothic Gates and Sentry House. Just recently, the Indiana Native Plant Society certified our garden as “Indiana Native.”

What are native plants? Native plants are species that have evolved in Indiana and were here before European colonization of the state. There are many advantages to using native plants in landscaping. They are hardy, easy to care for, and provide excellent food and shelter for wildlife, including pollinators. By participating in this Indiana Native Plant Society program, we are visually sharing with visitors that we support Indiana native plants and the pollinators that depend on them at Crown Hill.
