John Morrow, Revolutionary War Veteran and Methodist Preacher
(November 27, 1760 – August 24, 1835)

John Morrow enlisted in December 1776 at age 16 in the Pennsylvania Militia to fight in the American Revolutionary War, serving for three months. He enlisted again in 1778 and 1779, serving three months each time. At age 19, during his last enlistment as a sergeant in the Pennsylvania Militia, he was wounded at the Battle of Long Island.

Following his service in the Revolutionary War, Morrow served as a Methodist minister and was known for his long sermons, according to U.S. Senator Oliver Smith, who is also buried at Crown Hill.

Morrow died in 1835 in Indianapolis. He was originally buried on a farm near Mt. Jackson, near Tibbs Avenue and Washington Street in Indianapolis, and his remains were moved to Crown Hill National Cemetery on March 16, 1900.
