The Gallahue family was prominent in the insurance industry. Edward (1902-1971) graduated from Arsenal Tech High School. In 1929, with his brother Dudley (1898-1972), they started the American States Insurance Company, and later the American States Life Insurance Company and the American Economy Insurance Company.
