FFA Day 2023: “Green Careers”

We were honored to be a Career Success Tour facility for the National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Conference in Indianapolis. On November 2, Crown Hill hosted 280 FFA students who enjoyed a historical tour of the cemetery’s landscape and discussion sessions with our arborist and landscape professionals. Students learned about potential green careers in cemetery management, horticulture, and arboriculture.

We thank our partners, the Indiana Arborist Association and the Indiana Nursery and Landscape Association, for providing demonstrations of climbing arborists and the equipment they use.

In addition, 80 FFA students also chose to utilize their “Day of Service” at Crown Hill, and thanks to their help, we were able to get a whopping 93 yards of mulch laid around trees in our meadow area! Huge thanks to Nora Tree Service and McGavic Outdoor Power for helping to move mulch.

We look forward to making this FFA Career Success Tour an annual event!
