Corporal Wilson Beene (1929 – 1952)

Raised in Indianapolis, Wilson James Beene graduated from Crispus Attucks High School and began working for the New York Central Railroad. He was inducted into the Army in March, 1951. He was a light weapons infantryman for Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team.

While on active duty in Korea, he was patrolling the front lines when he stepped on a land mine that took his life. He was returned to his family and buried in the National Cemetery at Crown Hill in October 1952.
