Crown Hill Cemetery is a 555-acre cemetery, arboretum, historic landmark, and public art space. Founded in 1863, Crown Hill offers unique, standards-based programs that will captivate students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade in Indianapolis’ most unique outdoor classroom! Bring your class to the gravesites of influential, fascinating, and unsung witnesses to history; explore trees and wildlife in our environmental education programs; and analyze distinctive art and architecture that covers our sacred grounds.
School Field Trip Details
- Crown Hill education programs take place at the Cemetery.
- Programs include discussion, inquiry-based exploration, and a hands-on component tailored to specific grade levels and support a variety of DOE and other curriculum-based standards.
- Each activity can accommodate a group size of 35 students and their adult chaperones. Depending on our staff and education volunteer availability, we may be able to accommodate up to 150 students in one visit.
