President Harrison’s Wreath-Laying Ceremony – Cancelled for 2020
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must cancel President Harrison’s Wreath-Laying Ceremony for 2020. We hope that you will plan to join us in 2021 when we’re able to offer this wonderful event again!
Join us as we celebrate President Benjamin Harrison’s 187th Birthday at his memorial on Section 13! President Harrison (1833-1901), our nation’s 23rd president, served from 1889-1893. He was an Indianapolis lawyer and later served as a Civil War Colonel in the 70th Volunteer Infantry. Harrison, a Republican, won the presidential election in 1889 and served one term. His actual birthday is August 20, 1833, so this year we’ll be celebrating his birthday a few days early. Ceremony participants include Civil War and Revolutionary War reenactors, Scout troops, the Boy Scout Band, and others to be announced. Refreshments will be available following the ceremony. The ceremony will be held in the event of rain but may be moved indoors.
Location: Follow the white line on the road from either cemetery gate to the event site at the base of the Crown. It will be blocked with traffic cones. Plenty of free street parking is available.
